Agathe Thuillier is an experienced contemporary and modern art gallerist specialized in paintings, prints and ceramics and based in Midi-Pyrénées, France. Agathe is also actively involved in the organisation of exhibitions, art and cultural events.
In April 2006 Agathe opened Galerie Sépia in the bastide town of Villefranche-de-Rouergue in the Aveyron, which she ran independently for twelve successful years. Her aim was to nurture, support and promote the regional and national contemporary art scene, while also bringing international artists to local audiences. Galerie Sépia represented renowned French artists and ceramicists, including Louttre B., Patrick Loste, Marc Uzan and Martine Damas, alongside international names such as Martha Pachón Rodríguez, Faezeh Afchary-Kord and successful emerging artist Bruno Patyn. Alongside an eclectic range of temporary and permanent exhibitions, the gallery also hosted regular cultural events and concerts. Her role as sole gallerist has given her extensive experience in all aspects of artist management and promotion, communications and public relations, exhibition coordination and event organisation. She also has developed a strong network of local, regional and national arts and cultural contacts, and industry knowledge. At the end of 2017, Agathe decided to close the doors of Galerie Sépia to focus on new arts projects that will build on her work at the gallery.
Agathe has also been heavily involved in the organisation and management of the Biennale de la Céramique de Villefranche-de-Rouergue since it’s inauguration in 2014. This renowned ceramic festival showcases an exciting programme of national and international contemporary ceramics exhibitions, panel discussions, public events and introductory courses. As part of her work, Agathe is responsible for the management of the biennale’s website. To view details of the biennale, please visit the site: biennaleceramique.jimdo.com.
